Donald Muetzel, 86, of Wausau passed away Friday, January 3, 2014 at Our House Senior Living, Wausau.
He was born February 11, 1927 in Wausau to the late Wilford and Nina (Baumann) Muetzel. Don was an Army veteran stationed in Japan post WWII. He was a proud member of the September 2012 Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. Before retiring in 1987, Don had first worked for the City of Wausau in the Public Works Dept. and later for the Marathon County Parks Dept. as a carpenter and builder.
In his spare time, Don always kept busy in his workshop at home. He enjoyed building furniture, toys, picture frames and just about anything out of wood. He was a "jack of all trades" and could fix just about anything electrical or mechanical. In his earlier years, Don loved working at his cabin on 7 Island Lake in Harrison Hills.
Survivors include his sister, Joyce Fehl of Wausau and nieces and nephews. Don was further preceded in death by his brother, Wilford.
Private graveside services will take place in the spring at Restlawn Memorial Park. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Our House and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Service for the care and kindness they gave Don during these last few months.
