Donald was born July 27th 1921, in Wausau, the son of the late Theodore and Aurora (Luedtke) Pyke. During World War II, Don worked in Washington for the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge, he lived in Milwaukee, where he worked in a meat packing plant and at a paper mill. On December 17th 1955, he was united in marriage to Marvel Wysocki. The couple resided in Wausau, where Don worked at Anderson Brothers and Johnson Monument until his retirement.
Don and Marvel enjoyed fishing and boating in Tomahawk and traveling to rummage sales and auctions.
On December 23rd 2013, Donald Conrad Pyke passed away peacefully under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice, at Poplar Place, Rothschild.
He is survived by his brother, Teddy Pyke, Weston; brother-in-law, Jack Wysocki, Wausau; and many nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Don was preceded in death by his wife, Marvel, on June 18th 2006; and three sisters, Lillian Dallman, Lorraine Seeley, and Dolores Lewis.
Family will receive guests from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., Friday, January 17th, at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau.
Many thanks to Dr. Clark for the care provide to Don over the years; and to Dr. Miles and Dr. Lorraine for performing Don's successful heart surgery two years ago. Thanks to Community Care, Nicolet Staffing, and Poplar Place for the loving care given to Don as he was called to his eternal home. We all love you, Don, Jesus is with you.
