On February 26, 2025, the world lost a shining light with the passing of Donna Rae Mantz, born on July 23, 1957, in Wausau, Wisconsin. Donna was a force of nature, a true original, and a friend to all who crossed her path. Raised by her loving parents, Gordon and Betty Schlueter, Donna lived her life with a spirit that was tough as nails and a heart full of love.
Donna married Don Mantz on June 12, 1982. She was involved in her community, serving as the vice president of the Wausau Eagles Club and as a member of the Lion's Club with Don. An avid BINGO enthusiast and a dedicated fan of Wisconsin sports (Go, Packers!), Donna knew how to celebrate life with joy and enthusiasm.
For over 35 years, she made memories at North Forest Campground, even lending a helping hand in running the store. Her passion for camping was matched only by her love of family and her cats, Vader and Squeakers. Donna was thrilled to be a grandmother to Justin, Peyton, Daemon, Phillip, Audrey, and Bear, and was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her great-grandbaby, Aniyah.
She leaves behind her son, Joshua (Vanessa) Schlueter of Westboro; her beloved siblings, Donald (Bonnie) Schlueter, Dawn (Gary) Merriam, Susie Lewitzke, and Peggy (Tim) Tessmer; and a host of nieces, nephews, and countless friends who shared in her adventures.
Donna joins her husband, Don Mantz; her parents; and her siblings, Ronald and Debra in eternal rest.
We celebrate Donna's life with a visitation that will take place on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce Street, Wausau. We invite everyone who knew and loved Donna to join us in remembering her vibrant spirit, her unwavering strength, and the love she brought so freely to the world.
A heartfelt thank you to Deb, Donna's best friend, for her immense care and compassion during this time. Donna may have left this world, but her legacy of strength, resilience, and unyielding love will continue to inspire us all. Let's come together to honor her memory with laughter, love, and perhaps a game of BINGO in her honor!
