Dora Mueller

Dora Mueller, 92, Wausau, died Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Kennedy Park Medical and Rehabilitation Center.


Dora L. Weinke was born May 30, 1916 in the Town of Maine to the late Frank and Emma (Bartelt) Weinke. On November 23, 1935 she married the love of her life, Walter Mueller in the Town of Easton. The couple was blessed with the birth of three children, Maxine, Doreen, and Gene. The couple ran a family farm with dairy cattle. Dora and Walter celebrated thirty-four loving years together prior to Walter’s death on July 27, 1970.


Throughout her life, Dora had a very strong work ethic which served her well working on the farm raising chickens for eggs, pigs, and growing vegetables. She was an excellent cook and baker with some unusual methods of measuring ingredients. Outside the home, Dora was also busy starting the Good Neighbor Homemakers Club and serving as their President and Vice-President, serving with the Ladies Aid through church, and volunteering at the Commission of Aging. In her free time, she enjoyed putting puzzles together, gardening, crafting and quilting.


Dora is survived by three beloved children, Maxine (Paul) Bernsdorf of Kewaunee, Doreen (Ken) Erbrecht of Aniwa, and Gene (Laurie) Mueller of Wausau; grandchildren, Mikki Erdman, Mike (Laurie) Bernsdorf, Mark (June) Bernsdorf, Kenneth Erbrecht, Keith (Cheryl) Erbrecht, Kelly (Nikki) Erbrecht, and Kim (Don) Dolezal; and sixteen great-grandchildren.


She is also survived by her sisters, Delores (Lyle) Baumann of Merrill, Ruth (Clarence) Schmirler of Mosinee, Berdine (Roy) Marquardt of Rothschild and Eunice Feltis of Baldwin Park, CA; sisters-in-law, Lorraine (Weldon) Zilsch, Carol (Hank) Dakai, Florence (Robert) Ament; and Beverley Mueller; and many nieces and nephews.


Dora is preceded in death by her sisters, Ethel (Elmer) Knorr, Margaret (Walter) Schulz, Mildred (Lawrence) Andreas, Marie (Roland) Neitzel, Alvera (Elvin) Schulz; brothers, Edwin, Martin, Victor, Bill and Walter Weinke; brothers-in-law, Gust Mueller, LeRoy Feltis and Leo Mueller; and sister-in-law, Viola Schalow.


Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at St. John Lutheran Church, Town of Easton. Reverend Timothy Coppersmith will be officiating. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM and last until 7:00 PM of Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau and resume on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church until the time of services at 11:00 AM.
