Doris Borchardt, 95, of Wausau passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Copperleaf Memory Care, Weston.
She was born January 1, 1921 in the Town of Texas to the late Adolph and Rose (Plautz) Edelburg. On July 21, 1951, Doris married Franklin Borchardt in Wausau. They enjoyed going to their cottage on Black Lake, snowmobiling and fishing. Doris was an avid card player usually playing cards with the ladies every other Tuesday. She was never one to sit still and you could always find her either doing needlepoint, quilting, picking berries, making applesauce or pfeffernuts. Doris is a long time member of First English Lutheran Church and spent many years making quilts and helping at the food stand during the county fair. She also loved the years she spent volunteering at Bethesda Thrift Store.
Survivors include her son, Roger (Karen) Schmutzler of Weston, three daughters, Donna (Bernard) Hoefs of Eagle River, Betty Frank of Tomahawk, Kathy (Dennis) Kieper of Weston, eleven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren, a brother, Leonard (Carol) Edelburg of Wausau and sister-in-law, Florence Edelburg of Wausau. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin, her daughter, Roseanne, two brothers, one sister and son-in-law.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at First English Lutheran Church, 402 N. 3rd Ave., Wausau. Reverend Jennifer Dahle will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
