Doris Lanita Carlson, 76, of Wausau, passed away at Aspirus Wausau Hospital on Wednesday, December 5, 2018.
She was born on September 30, 1942, in Helena, Arkansas to the late James and Naomi (Skinner) Johnson. Doris grew up in Arkansas and in Kenosha County, WI, graduating from high school in Wilmot, WI. She married David Carlson in Waukegan, IL in August of 1962. They made their home in Wausau and Doris worked for the city as Deputy City Clerk. She later worked for 10 years at J.C. Penney Co. until her retirement.
Doris will be remembered as a caregiver and someone that always lent a helping hand. She put others before herself and was always concerned for her family. Her family was most important, and she especially looked forward to time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. As a family she always enjoyed meals, vacations, and visits. Doris also leaves behind many friends that she made while playing games on Facebook. She checked in with them and played games almost every morning.
Survivors include her husband, David; children, David Jr. (Cynda) Carlson and Laura Grogan (Dave); grandchildren, David III, Lindsay, and Megan Carlson, and Cameron, Blake, and Kieran Grogan; four great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Naomi.
