Doris Schwede

Doris "Dory" M. Schwede, 76, Town of Texas, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at her home surrounded by her loving family while under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

Doris was born November 14, 1938, in the Town of Texas to the late Bruno and Olga (Borth) Luedtke. She is a graduate of Wausau High School. She worked at Employer's Mutual for several years before starting a family. She spent many years as a homemaker raising her three children. In her later years she worked in retail and retired from the Wausau School District.

Doris was a very good natured and fun-loving woman who valued and cherished the many family gatherings where her joyous laughter made her the heart of the party. She enjoyed fishing in the Northwoods, walking, cooking, baking, gardening and canning.

Doris is survived by her children, Darlene (Randy) Vlietstra, Dean Schwede and Donna (Nate) Guldan all of Wausau; grandchildren, Amber (Dan) Bassindale, Kyle Vlietstra and Sara Vlietstra (Tyler Raduechel); Caden, Tyler and Landry Guldan; great-grandchild, Dorothy Bassindale and another blessing soon to be born; siblings, Beverly Luedtke, Lois (Eugene) Koehler, Shirley (Edward) Schwede and Lloyd (Lou) Luedtke; and beloved dog, Otis. She is preceded in death by her brother, Donald Luedtke and nephews, Jeffrey Luedtke and David Koehler.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM on Monday, March 16, 2015, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wausau. Reverend Kemp Jones will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 15 at Helke Funeral Home from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM, continuing on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church.
