Dorothy Lepak, 94, Brokaw, died Monday, November 16, 2009 at the Hospice House under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.
Dorothy Ann Goetsch was born December 24, 1914 to the late Bernhardt and Alvina (Zastrow) Goetsch in Brokaw. She is a graduate of Wausau High School. Dorothy worked for Wausau Paper as a secretary and retired from First National Bank as a Vault Custodian. She met David Lepak and the happy couple was married in June 1946 at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Although Dorothy and David had no children of their own, she dearly loved children and took delight in doting over her friend’s children and grandchildren. After David had a stroke, Dorothy cared for him at home for 14 years before his death August 4, 1979.
In her free time, Dorothy loved to play cards, going out dancing, and going out to eat with friends. She was an avid Brewers and Packers fan. Dorothy also had a hobby of collecting cookbooks, cookie cutters, figurines and plates. She was an excellent cook and baker, baking and decorating wedding cakes and special anniversary cakes. Dorothy liked to crochet, embroidery and textile painting. Many of her weekends were spent visiting with friends at the nursing homes. Dearest to Dorothy’s heart was her faith and love of St. Paul’s UCC where she was a very active member.
Dorothy is survived by her nephew, Stanley Goetsch of Lansing, Michigan; dear friends, Pat Baumann and Fay Winter and their families; and numerous extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by 5 sisters, 3 brothers, and her dearest lifelong friend, Carol Piette, who died 6 years ago.
