Dorothy Marquardt

Dorothy Marquardt, 88, Weston, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital .



Dorothy was born April 8, 1920 in the town of Wausau to the late Richard and Alvina (Pagel) Tesch. She married Raymond Marquardt on October 14, 1939 at St. John’s Lutheran Church , town of Easton .



Dorothy and Raymond farmed together in the town of Easton for 42 years until their retirement in 1981. They then moved to the village of Weston . Dorothy was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church since 1939. She was a member of the Easton Center Homemakers, Friendship Bible Studies, Jolly friends, and the Dorcas Circle of St. Stephens Church. She also volunteered at local nursing homes and for the Circle of Joy group. Dorothy enjoyed gardening and baking. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always made angel food cakes for their birthdays.



Survivors include two daughters, Diann (James) Vlietstra, Birnamwood and Karen (Willie) Schult, Merrill; six grandchildren, Randy (Darlene) Vlietstra and their children, Amber, Kyle & Sara; Kathy (Ken) Szews and their son Kody; Mark Vlietstra; Debra (Jim) Baranowski and their children, Jenna & Andrew; Laura (Mark) Swope and Sandra (Troy) Pagel and their children, Austin & Taylor. She is further survived by her sister, Della (Ruben) Marquardt, and by two sisters-in-law June (Harold) Krenz and Estella Tesch. She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, her parents Richard and Alvina Tesch, her parents-in-law Reinhard and Elsa Marquardt and a brother, Lester Tesch.
