Dorothy O'Neil, 90, of Wausau, died Monday, March 3, 2008 at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau.
Dorothy was born November 13, 1917 in Wausau to the late Henry and Frieda (Rust) Ziegler. She married Robert D. O'Neil on August 31, 1940 in Wausau. Robert preceded her in death on November 11, 1995. Dorothy worked for Wausau Insurance for many years before retiring. She was a life long member of Grace United Church of Christ where she was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Merry Hearts, Women's Guild, Willing Workers and a choir member since childhood.
Dorothy was a member of the White Shrine, Order of the Eastern Star, Christian Women's Association and past president of the Shrine Auxiliary. Music was one of Dorothy's loves. She also enjoyed doing crafts and traveling, especially in their motor home.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Robert "Mike" (Ruth Ann) O'Neil of Rhinelander; daughter, Patricia "Patti" (Wayne) Schultz of Marathon; one granddaughter Nicole (Jason) Schubring of DePere , one great grandson Grant Henry Schubring of DePere, one sister Alyce Baumgardt of Wausau, nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by 5 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday March 7, 2008 at Grace United Church of Christ, Wausau. Visitation will be Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Grace UCC or the Shriners Hospital for Children.
