Douglas Butenhoff, 94, formerly of Wausau passed away Sunday, March 9, 2008 at Meriter Health Care Center, Madison.
He was born December 15, 1913 in Wausau to the late Gustave and Albertina (Taege) Butenhoff. In 1943, Douglas married Esther Borth in Wasuau. She passed away on November 13, 1995. Douglas was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army and was a member of American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10. Being retired from the U.S. Post Office, Douglas was also a member of the National Association of Federal Employees.
Survivors include his son, Craig (Debbie) Butenhoff of Madison, two grandsons, Nikolas (Sarah) of Rockford, Ill and Trevor of Portland, OR. Douglas was further preceded in death by four sisters, Verna Mathies, Loretta Wohlfert, Mable Butenhoff, and Gladys Bates.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 14, 2008 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Reverend David Faulkner will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from Noon until the time of services at the funeral home.
