Edgar William Grosskopf, 95, of Wausau, died Wednesday, July 29, 2009, at Presbyterian Homes on Lake Minnetonka in Spring Park, MN.
Edgar was born in Wausau on December 4, 1913 to Charles and Louise (Hart) Grosskopf.
On April 6, 1940, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Ilean F. Jahsmann in Wausau.
They were married for 61 years.
He worked for Juneau Supply, Wausau, for over 50 years in sales and management; and was rewarded a trip to the Holy Land and Germany as a result of many years of dedicated service.
Edgar was baptized on December 25, 1913 at Trinity Lutheran Church and was a lifelong member, serving as an elder and on numerous church boards.
He was active in the Lutheran Laymen’s League.
Edgar loved his church and understood the value of family.
He enjoyed traveling, golfing, fishing, hunting and relaxing at the family cottage on Long Lake.
He was an avid bowler and a dedicated Brewers and Packer fan.
Edgar was predeceased by his parents; wife, Ilean in 2001; two brothers, Edwin and Elmer Grosskopf.
He is survived by his loving family, including daughter Janice (Ralf) Bates of Mound, MN, sons Darrell (Charlotte) Grosskopf, Dallas, TX, Kenneth (Janice Ruth) Grosskopf, Green Bay, WI and Daniel (Deanna) Grosskopf, Farmington, MN; 9 grandchildren: Stephanie, Scott, Debra, Vicci, Kurt, Stephen, Tera, Amanda and Rachael; 2 step-grand children; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-great grandchildren; sister Esther Miller, Wausau, WI; sisters-in-law, Janet Grosskopf, Oshkosh, WI, Elaine Grosskopf, Wausau, WI, Evelyn Bartel, Wausau, WI, Arlene Jahsmann, Wausau, WI; and a brother-in-law, Harold Jahsmann of Wausau.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau.
The Reverend Joel Brandt will officiate.
Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, prior to the service at the church, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
