Edna B. Hackbart, 99, Wausau, passed away Sunday, November 11th, at Wausau Manor Nursing Home, under the care of AseraCare Hospice.
She was born March 5, 1913, the daughter of Edwin and Elsie (Giese) Sturm, in the town of Maine. On June 15th 1935, she married Fred A. Hackbart, at Zion Lutheran Church, in the town of Maine. For 40 years, they farmed the Pioneer Hackbart farm in the town of Maine, they were the fourth generation to do so. In 1976, they moved to Wausau, to help with Edna's mother. They then became members of Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred, on October 27th 1986; a sister, LaVila Schult; two brothers, John Sturm and Norman Sturm. She is survived by two sister, Eleanor Koelsch, Athens, and Arline Gumtz, town of Berlin; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Edna's life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 16th, at Trinity Lutheran Church. Reverend Zach Holdorf will officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, town of Maine. Visitation will be held Friday, at church, beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of service.
