Edna M. Schultz, 95, passed away peacefully with family around her on June 26, 2009, at Walnut Grove Assisted Living, Wausau.
She was born July 31, 1913, the daughter of Frank and Eliese Baumann, in the Town of Wien, Marathon County. She married Arnold Schultz and had two sons, Roger and Charles. Her husband preceded her in death in 1984. She was also preceded in death by her son Roger in 2005 and by her sister Helen and eight brothers Edwin, Emil, Alfred, Martin, Louis, Fred, Frank and Robert. Edna was the last living sibling of the Baumann Family.
Edna was a teacher and had a love of reading and writing. She taught in rural schools as a young woman. She enjoyed studying scripture, even as her vision failed in her later years, with talking books. Edna taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
She loved spending time in her beautiful flower gardens and productive vegetable garden. She enjoyed gardening even in her childhood with her sister Helen.
Edna and Arnold enjoyed an active membership at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, in Wausau. Edna had many good memories of The Leah Circle and quilting with her friends. She did beautiful and very detailed craft work.
She is survived by her son Charles (Lois), Rib Mountain WI; granddaughter, Lynne, Madison WI; two grandsons, Michael (Jennifer), Plover, WI, and Matthew (Gretchen), Tell City, IN; and 3 great-grandchildren, Cassandra and Nathan, Plover, and Ross, Tell City, IN. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Lorna Rachu, Mount Morris, IL; and many nephews, nieces and friends.
Edna was a loving Mother and Grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family.
A funeral service will be held at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau, on Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend Gary Froseth will officiate. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau; and will resume at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service, Tuesday morning, at St. Stephen.
