Edward Blaschka

Edward William Blaschka, 76, of Wausau, passed away on Monday, September 10, 2012, at his home, surrounded by family, under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice. He was born to William and Elizabeth (Steinke) Blaschka on April 16, 1936 in Wausau. Edward attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Wausau High School. On May 9, 1959, he married Nancy Stark at First English Lutheran Church. Edward will be remembered most by his family for his sense of humor, dedication to his family, and that he was approachable by anyone.
Edward worked as a night watchman and custodian at Channel 7 and First American Center, and more recently as a security officer at several different locations including Wausau Center Mall, WPS, and Kraft Foods. His life centered around family, tradition, and a strong work ethic. He always gave his all to whatever he was working on. He enjoyed the holidays, especially Halloween and being Santa Claus at Christmas. Edward liked people and had a very outgoing personality. His time was spent with his family camping, biking, and roller skating. Edward also liked sports, hunting, fishing, and being outside. He could be found tending to his garden and canning his harvest to be enjoyed throughout the year.
Edward is survived by his wife, Nancy; children, Kevin Blaschka, Kimberly (Gary) Seubert, Shawn (Jenny) Blaschka, and Tammy Blaschka; seven grandchildren; sister, Mildred (Bob) Paustian; cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Geraldine Phillips; step-brothers, William Shipman and Gerald Blaschka; and step-sisters, Ruth Walters and Venita Loy.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 14, 2012, at Helke Funeral Home, 302 Spruce St., Wausau, with Rev. Erik Olson officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau.
