Eileen Osswald

March 10, 1925 — June 1, 2014

Eileen Elizabeth Osswald, 89 of Wausau passed away peacefully Sunday, June 1, 2014 at North Central Health Care.

She was born March 10, 1925 in Mosinee to the late Isadore and Clara (Raleigh) Spatz. On September 9, 1944 she married Fredrick D. Osswald. Together they raised five children in the town of Maine.

Eileen was a homemaker, who took great pride in her family. She babysat for many kids over the years and to the very end, loved hearing the laughter of little ones. Eileen loved to garden and made sure she always had plenty to share. Each year the garden would get bigger and bigger. Eileen always wanted to travel but as the years passed so did her ability to. Eileen lived her travels thru others. She would listen for hours about any trip that someone took and would make sure every detail was covered. By the time the conversation was over, she felt like she was the one who was seeing the world. Eileen also had a love of birds and kept a watchful eye out to see what was at her bird feeders.

Survivors include 3 children Patricia (David) Mayer, Joe (Pam) Osswald, Donald (Janice) Osswald, daughter-in-law Bonnie Osswald, all of Wausau: 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dale (Dee) Spatz, Neal Spatz, both of Mosinee, one sister Rosemary Gribus, of Chicago and one sister-in-law, Delores Spatz, of Mosinee.

She was further preceded in death by husband Fredrick, son, Steven, daughter Rita, one brother, Cecil Spatz and sisters, Eunice Schmidt and Leona Streveler.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 6th at noon at St. Anne Parish, 700 West Bridge Street, Wausau where visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Entombment will take place after services at Restlawn Memorial Park.
