Elaine Therese Brill was an important part of her familya(TM)s parties. Whether hosting them at her home at Mount View Care Center or arriving via a van for holidays, the festivities werena(TM)t complete without Elaine.
Elaine was born July 31, 1949, daughter of Mildred and Roger Brill of Marathon. She passed away Thursday, Dec. 16, surrounded by her family. As she left this world, they celebrated an early Christmas with her, complete with decorations and singing. And tears.
When Elaine was 16, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Through the many challenges her illness presented, she maintained her independent spirit and appreciation for others. Earlier this year, she was crowned queen for the Centera(TM)s senior prom. She loved playing cards, especially when she won at UNO. She also enjoyed playing BINGO, participating in the baking classes at the Center, singing with the Red Hat Ladies and going outside on nice days. Some of her favorite times were when family had picnics, especially if there were ice cream treats. She had a beautiful smile and when her eyes sparkled, you knew she was enjoying herself.
The medical and personal care Elaine had at Mount View sustained her for many years. She loved them as a second family. During her last days, the caregivers at Aspirus Hospital continued to support her and her family with compassion, humor and quality care.
In addition to her mom, Mildred Brill of Marathon, Elaine is survived by siblings Jeanne (Denis) Lang of Wausau; Dr. Ann Brill-Schmitz of Lawrence, Kansas; Maggie (Tony) Lang of Oshkosh; Bernie (Larry) Heindl of Marathon; Donna (Chris) Baines of Windisch, Switzerland; Dr. John (Mary) Brill of Milwaukee. Her nieces and nephews are Craig (Kelly) Lang, Greta (Will) Wood. Kevin (Marsha) Lang, Rachel (David) Salsedo, Brian Lang, Andy Lang, Katie (Steven) Brickner, Liz (Korey) Kilinski, Ben Heindl, Matthew and Annalise Baines, and Michael, Sarah and Emily Brill. She also is survived by great nieces and nephews a" Tyler, Rhyan, Kyle, Molly, Spencer, Anna, Mason, Nathaniel and Miss Paityn. Her four-legged friends were Sophie, Duncan and Biscuit.
Elaine was preceded in death by her father Roger and brother Gary, her brother-in-law Larry Schmitz, her maternal grandparents Joseph and Elizabeth Bergs, and her paternal grandparents Matthew and Teresia Brill.
