Elaine Holtz

Elaine A. (Schultz) Holtz, 85, of Wausau, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 2, 2012. She was born to Martin and Alma (Schewe) Schultz on February 1, 1927, in Wausau. Elaine married Gilbert Holtz on October 2, 1948, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. She worked various jobs in her neighborhood in the town of Maine, but was a homemaker first. She most of all enjoyed her flower garden; being outside working in the garden and admiring the different flowers that her hard work would produce. Elaine also enjoyed baking and cake decorating, canning, needlework, scrapbooking, and playing cards. She produced entries in the Wisconsin Valley Fair for over 50 years in the areas of her hobbies and won multiple ribbons over the years. Elaine and Gilbert enjoyed traveling together, visiting places such as California, Hawaii, and Germany. She loved spending time with her friends and family.
Elaine was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and the Mother's Club for over 50 years, and the Friendly 12 Homemaker's Club.
Elaine is survived by her children, Jane (Paul) Ebeling of Denmark, WI, Randall (Ann) Holtz of Wausau, Daniel (Monica) Holtz of Eau Claire, and Gregory (Carol) Holtz of Wausau; grandchildren, Christine (Pat) Quinlan, Kevin (Andrea) Ebeling, Beth (Andy) Murkowski, Heidi Holtz, Adam (Laura) Holtz, and Amy (Josh) Murdock; step-grandchildren, Christopher Cloutier, Angela Cloutier, and Kent Cloutier; 10 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; brother-in-law, Gerhardt (Elaine) Holtz of Wausau; sisters-in-law, Karen Schultz of Fairfax, VA, Velma (Stanley) Schultz of Owen, Viola (Gerald) Seidler of Wausau, and Doris (Raymond) Zunker of Athens; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert, parents, and brother, Lloyd Schultz.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 7, 2012, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 426 Washington St., Wausau, with the Rev. Philip Schneider officiating. Family and friends may call on Thursday, September 6, 2012, at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, beginning at 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again at 10:00 a.m. on Friday until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
