Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Frodl, 79, passed peacefully on Sunday, December 7, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at Mount View Care Center under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Betty was born July 18, 1935 in Boulder Junction to the late Frank and Anna (Marvin) LaFave. The homestead there is fondly referred to as "the shack", a place where many summer vacations took place and memories were made. Betty graduated from Wausau High School with the class of 1953. She married George Frodl on Oct. 1, 1955 at St. Therese Parish, Wausau; the couple later divorced.
Betty was a devout Catholic mother who had a deep love for her family. She fostered strong, caring relationships amongst those around her, and especially amongst her children and grandchildren. She was exceptionally compassionate, sincere and sensitive. She cherished time spent with her family, friends and those closest to her. She appreciated going to church, praying, and studying with the Secular Franciscans.
Betty was a very strong and energetic woman, walking and actively moving about all throughout her life. She enjoyed car rides and visiting local parks, tall pine trees and boat landings. She was meticulous regarding her appearance and her home. She collected salt and pepper shakers and enjoyed working on needle point projects. She was comfortable playing solitaire in her free time, and enjoyed social card games and bingo as well. She liked listening to music, especially polkas, hymns and Christmas tunes. She hummed along to the chorus and harmony and she kept the rhythm and the beat in her step, in her heart and in her soul. People near her enjoyed her energy when she danced or tapped her foot to the music. Betty also had a special place in her heart for all of the families' pets, especially the dogs.
Betty is survived by her children, Cheryl (Steven) Damerell of Mosinee, Kathy (Jim) Jensen of Ringle, Steve Frodl of Wausau and Connie (Donnie) Zimmerman of Edgerton; grandchildren, Melissa, Laura and Christopher Damerell, Danielle and Derrick Zimmerman; siblings, Elsie Lobermeier of Woodruff and Jerry (Arlene) LaFave of Green Bay; sister-in-law, Lucille LaFave of Schofield; and extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her ex-husband, George, brothers, Raymond and Robert LaFave; and brother-in-law, Mel Lobermeier.
A memorial service will be at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of services followed by committal of Betty's remains at Restlawn Memorial Park.

Heartfelt gratitude goes to the nurses and staff of Cedar Ridge Elder Services, Mount View Care Center and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for their compassionate and encompassing care.
