Elizabeth "Betty" Weyeneth, 93, of Wausau passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Aspirus Hospice House.
She was born November 4, 1921 in the town of Weston to the late Hugo and Margaret (Spatz) Heeren. On May 1, 1943, Betty married Lloyd Weyeneth at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Wausau. In her earlier years, she was employed at Marathon Electric, Marathon Rubber, Gaycraft Plastics and Kraft Cleaners.
Betty enjoyed taking care of her yard, gardening and walking. She loved to bake and no visitor ever left her home hungry. Betty was an extraordinary seamstress and member of Sew Helpful Volunteers, taking on sewing jobs through the Volunteer Center.
Betty has sewn aprons to raise money for Alzheimer's patients, dolls for women in shelter homes, a superhero costume and capes for the United Way of Marathon County, padded bags and hangers for artifact storage at the Marathon County Historical Society, a water drop costume for the Rothschild/Schofield Aquatic Center, hats and mittens for Special Olympics and preemie baby clothing for Wausau Hospital. She was a woman who could never sit still and will be sadly missed by her family and many, many friends.
Survivors include two daughters, Rosemary Becker of Hartland, WI and Dorothy Weyeneth of Newark, DE, one sister, Mary Ann (George) Zinser of Weston and two sisters-in-law, Florence and Margie Heeren of Wausau. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd, son-in-law, Joseph Becker, three brothers, Ervin, Hugo, and Arthur and one sister, Margaret Krause.
