Ella Doering

November 13, 1928 — September 8, 2013

Ella Tillie (Kurth) Doering, 84, of the Town of Hewitt, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, at Aspirus Hospice House, on Sunday, September 8, 2013. She was born to Robert and Ella (Henkelman) Kurth on November 13, 1928, in the Town of Hewitt. Ella grew up and lived on the family homestead for almost all of her life. She married Albert Doering on June 26, 1948, in Wausau.
Ella was a loving homemaker, and dedicated her life to her husband, family, and farm. She loved her times together with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They could always look forward to Ella's baked goods, especially her apple pies, cookies, and holiday goodies. Numerous others also enjoyed Ella's baked goods, jams and jellies at church events or charity auctions, where they would be bid to a high price. Ella enjoyed spending time working in her gardens, berry patches, and with her fruit trees. Her green thumb would show in the flowers she grew, especially her roses, and it seemed like she was able to nurse back any plant. Ella also embroidered gifts for weddings, special events, and fundraisers. She enjoyed polkas with Albert and would even listen to them while milking cows. She was a Brewers and Packers fan paying close attention to how her teams were doing that season.
Ella was a life-long member of Zion Lutheran Church (Town of Easton) and was in the Ladies Aid and Mother's Club. She also helped in the office, made quilts, and helped at the Bethesda Thrift Shop. Ella enjoyed the camaraderie at Golden Oldies.
Ella is survived by her daughter, Linda (Rick) Novack of Schofield; sons, Duane (Liza) Doering of Wausau, Dale (Jackie) Doering of Wausau, Brian (Becky) Doering of Great Mills, Maryland; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Adolph (Jean) Kurth of Wausau; sisters, Selma Sokie of Schofield and Deloris (Lloyd) Geurink of Wausau; brother-in-law, Herbert Beyer of Wausau; and many nieces and nephews.
Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; parents, Robert and Ella; sisters, Angela "Angie" Reniff, Erma Kittel, Gertrude (Robert) Novitizke, and Diana Beyer; granddaughters, Megan Doering and infant Jamie Kluck; and brother-in-law, Ernest Sokie.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, September 13, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church (town of Easton), E7195 Star Rd., Aniwa, with Rev. David Faulkner officiating. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday, September 12 beginning at 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday morning beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park – Chapel Mausoleum, Town of Texas.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Nichols, Dr. Sewall, and all of the nurses and volunteers at Aspirus Hospice House, Aspirus Wausau Hospital – Palliative Care, and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for the care provided to Ella. A special thank you to her dear friend, Liz Kurth and to the first responders of the Town of Hewitt.
