"Abby" was a man who lived his life with integrity and honesty. He was a hard-working man who was dedicated to both his career at Wausau Paper and his family. He always put the needs of others before his own and for this he was greatly respected and loved.
He was born February 27, 1925, the son of the late Robert and Anna (Jaeger) Timm. On September 13, 1947, he married Betty J. Baumann and together they had two daughters; Debi and Peggy. Before Betty's death in 1977 the family spent their summers at Lake Tomahawk fishing and enjoying the outdoors. On March 14, 1981, he married his second wife, Johanna. Together they spent time at their home on Deer Lake gardening and crafting. Johanna predeceased him in 2005.
Elroy was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He took great pride in his trophy deer that was featured by Boone and Crocket. In earlier years he spent time ski jumping and many other winter activities. Elroy was a devoted Packer fan and liked to watch boxing.
On December 22, 2009, Elroy died at Wausau Manor Nursing Home. He will be greatly missed by his loving family, which includs his two daughters, Debi Baeseman and Peggy Makal; 4 grandchildren, Ashley Baeseman, Jerid Clemens, Jason Weinke, and Joshua Weinke; 4 great-grandchildren; brother, Bill (Gloria) Timm; 7 step-children; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 26, 2009, at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. The Reverend Scott Mann, First English Lutheran Church, will officiate. Friends and family may gather at 1:00 p.m, an hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Burial will follow in the spring at Restlawn Memorial Park.
