Elton Louis always had a deep desire to help people as well as the communities where he lived. As a Forensic Social Worker, his career was devoted in helping those who struggled with life. He was very involved with the formation of Wausaua(TM)s Treatment Instead of Prison (TIPS) program. Elton was a presenter at numerous National Association of Social Worker (NASW) and National Organization of Forensic Social Worker (NOFSW) workshops as well as being a member of both organizations. He also served on the Board of Directors and was chairman of the Membership Committee for the NOFSW. His participation and membership with Faith In Action and NAOMI gave him ideas to make Wausau a better place to live.
Elton was born February 12, 1937 in Fond du Lac to the late Samuel and Anita (Gussow) Louis. He grew up there and graduated from Fond du Lac High School. He joined the Army and served as a cook for the troops in Japan. After his Honorable Discharge, Elton attended UW Oshkosh receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work. He then completed his Mastera(TM)s degree in Social Work at the University of Missouri, Columbia.
Elton was a very active member of Mt. Sinai Congregation in all aspects of synagogue life, and also served on the Board of Directors. He absolutely loved being with his grandchildren and attending all of their various activities.
