Emily Traeger

August 25, 1918 — March 17, 2008

Emily Traeger, 89, formerly of Wausau, passed away Monday, March 17, 2008 at Manor Care, Appleton.

She was born August 25, 1918 in Mosinee to the late John and Frances (Steffen) Belohlavek.

On June 5, 1941, Emily married Edward Traeger in Chicago. For years they lived at 924 Kent St. while raising their two children, Norman and Mary. Emily had been a secretary for Wisconsin Valley Trust and former member of the Wausau Women's Club and the Chamber of Commerce. In her earlier years, Emily enjoyed gardening, sewing, curling, bowling, and fishing. Throughout her life, Emily was always a very positive woman who loved being with people. She was an active member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church and helped deliver meals for the Meals on Wheels program.

Survivors include one son, Norman (Diana) Traeger of Beloit, one daughter, Mary (William) Skatrud of Appleton, four grandchildren, Anne (William) Doll, Robert, Jenna and Jacob, one brother, John (Helen) Belohlavek Jr. of Wausau, and one sister, Helen Kane. Emily was preceded in death by Edward on January 27, 1973, three sisters, Bertha, Mae Ferguson, and Anne Mann and four brothers, John Jr., Sy, Joseph, and Frank.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 21, 2008 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Wausau. Reverend Dennis Creswell will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church. Helke Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
