Eric Benjamin Simpson, 31, of Schofield, died Wednesday February 10, 2010, at University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison.
Eric was born February 17, 1978, in Batesville, Ark., to Sherman “Dale” and Cleda (Taylor) Simpson. He married Sarah Hendon on December 29, 2002, in Wausau. Eric earned his Master’s of Divinity degree and was an ordained minister in the Evangelical Free Church. He attended the College of the Ozarks in Branson, Mo. Eric also traveled as an exchange student to Europe, Central America and South America.
Eric served at the rank of Captain in the Iowa National Guard as a Chaplain. He loved music and enjoyed playing his guitar and making music with other people. Eric also loved to learn about anything new, and was drawn to learning different languages. Eric was a wonderful and loving husband and father. His first and favorite love was Jesus, his Lord and Savior, and he loved teaching others about his Jesus.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah, of Schofield; his two children, Micah Benjamin and Lydia Beth Simpson; his parents, Sherman “Dale” and Cleda Simpson, of Batesville, Ark.; one brother, Chris (Crystal) Simpson, of Ocean Springs, Miss.; paternal grandfather, Dale (Shirley) Simpson, of Batesville, Ark.; maternal grandfather, Reuben (Jean) Taylor, of Lakeview, Ark.; and his father- and mother-in-law, Paul and Karen Hendon, of Schofield.
Eric was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Verneil Simpson; and maternal grandmother, Lorine Taylor.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Friday February 12, 2010, at the Highland Community Church, Wausau. Visitation will be Friday from 5 p.m. until the time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to start a memorial fund for the children.
