April 15, 1914 — February 21, 2008

Esther A. Bohl, 93, Wausau, died peacefully on Thursday, February 21, 2008 after a brief time at Wausau Manor.

Esther Anna Baumann was born on April 15, 1914 in the Town of Hamburg, WI to the late Henry and Frieda (Scharbius) Baumann. On June 18, 1938, Esther was united in marriage to Harold Bohl at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in the Town of Berlin. Esther and Harold celebrated fifty-five wonderful years together prior to his death in 1993.

Esther was a woman of strong faith. She daily prayed for her family and friends and read from her Bible and devotions. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. In past years, she belonged to Trinity Welfare Workers, Altar Guild, Valparaiso Guild and a sheepshead card club. Her favorite pastimes were reading, crocheting, playing cards and spending time with her family. One of her greatest joys was baking homemade rolls and coffee cakes for her family. For many years, Harold and Esther enjoyed golfing in Florida and at the Wausau Country Club. Esther was a great example of healthy living and showed great courage and determination as she faced her later years.

Esther is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Dean) Wolske of Algoma, and Kathy (Clark) Schuette of Wausau and her son, Jim (Jan) Bohl of Baraboo; eight grandchildren, Dan (Nicole) Bohl of Middleton, Julie (Dan) Smith of Beaver Dam, Sue (Rick) Hale of New Jersey, Jay Bohl of Baraboo, Chris (Sherri) Wolske of Appleton, Katherine (Keith) Brewer of Hartford, Wade (Heather) Schuette of Wausau, and Deanna Schuette of Wausau; eight great-grandchildren, Samuel and Emily Bohl, Michael, John, David and Luke Wolske, Jimmy Brewer, and Claire Schuette; and one sister, Edna Giese of Wausau. Esther is preceded in death by her sisters, Norma Oelke and Ella Barrett; and brother, Elgart Baumann Sr.

Pastor Matthew Hein will be officiating. There will be a private family burial in Restlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or to the charity of your choice.

Esther's family sincerely thanks the staff of Harmony House Living Center for the compassion and loving care shown to her and her family while she lived there.
