Esther C. Gaulke passed into the arms of Jesus, at home, on the evening of April 10, 2012, surrounded by family and friends, and the loving care of the Wausau Aspirus Hospice nurse.
Esther was 97 years old. She was born November 26, 1914 in the Town of Wausau, the daughter of the late Fred Gaulke, Sr. and Irene (Porath) Gaulke. Her grandparents were John Gaulke, Sr. and Henrietta (Schwede) Gaulke, and Ferdinand Porath and Henrietta (Leitzke) Porath. Esther is survived by one brother, Fred W. Gaulke, Jr., Town of Wausau; one nephew, Gary Jarntowski, Town of Texas; and many cousins and friends.
Esther was never married. She was a homemaker and took great pride in her garden and flowers. She also was a wonderful cook.
Esther was preceded in death by one brother, Earl, who died in infancy; and one sister, Irene Jarntowski.
Esther had a deep faith and was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Town of Wausau, where she was baptized, confirmed, and will now be given a Christian burial in the church cemetery.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 7505 N. 33rd St., in the Town of Wausau, with the Rev. Scott Holoubek officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 9:00 am at the church until the time of service. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Town of Wausau.
