Esther Roy

Esther Artus Fritz Roy, 101, of Wausau, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2012 at Harmony House Court, Wausau, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services. She was born to the late Carl and Alwina (Wilde) Artus in the town of Stettin on March 21, 1910. Esther grew up and went to school in the town of Stettin. After her first husband, Rudolph, passed away, Esther, at age 26, decided to move into Wausau to find work. She went door to door looking for a job and was hired to help cooking and cleaning for people in their homes. Esther was hard at work until she retired at 63 years old.
Esther's life was her work. She was very motivated and hard-working. Many aspects of her job were incorporated into her own home. She was known for her well kept home and garden. She always had fresh flowers on her table. Esther always made three proper meals a day. She was a good cook and homemaker and that was appreciated by her family. Crafting and needlepoint were also things that would occupy Esther in her free time. In her 80's she purchased her first keyboard and she practiced diligently.
Esther was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Janet Kriescher; grandson, Thomas (Traci) Kriescher; three great-grandchildren, Ryan, Rikki, and Lucas; two special great-grandchildren, Kary and Jeff; and one special great-great-granddaughter, Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Fritz; second husband, Allen Roy; brother, Lawrence Artus; and two sisters, Agnes Rusch and Myrtle Lodholz.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 512 McClellan St., Wausau, with Rev. Gary Froseth officiating. Family and friends may call beginning at 9:30 am until the time of service at the church. Entombment will be in Restlawn Chapel Mausoleum, Wausau.
