Ethel MacDonald

Ethel M. MacDonald, 93 of Tomahawk formerly of Rib Lake and Wausau passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the Golden Living Riverview Center in Tomahawk.
She was born September 9, 1921, in Rib Lake, WI daughter of the late George and Anna (Wudi) Thums. Ethel received her education in Rib Lake where she graduated and then moved to Wausau where she took business classes.
On August 26, 1950 she was united in marriage to Marlund "Red" MacDonald. Ethel and Red made their home in Wausau where she worked as a bookkeeper for Employer's Mutual Insurance of Wausau. She also worked with Red at Palace Clothiers which continued even after his death October 2, 1982.
Ethel was a true farm girl and enjoyed life to the fullest. She gave her whole life to raising her children and enjoyed spending as much time with them and the grandchildren as possible. She enjoyed doing yard work, working with her flowers, golfing, bowling and refinishing furniture that she shared with all her family. She was a charter member of Saint Anne Parish in Wausau and enjoyed working funeral luncheons and serving at the Friday night fish frys.
She is survived by a son Robert (Barb) MacDonald of Tomahawk, two daughters, Mary (Duane) Martin of Tomahawk, and Kathryn (Brad) Foley of Ocala, FL, five grandchildren, Sara, Matthew, Melissa, Aimee and Kelly, three great grandchildren, Isaac, Isabelle and Henry, two step-grandchildren, Amber and Autumn, as well as three step-great grandchildren, Aiden, Bastion, and Olivia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and six brothers, Ed, George, Ambrose, Alfred, Dan and Raymond.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne Parish, 700 West Bridge St. Wausau, Father Matt Marshall with officiate. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
