Ethel Princl, 97, of Wausau, died Monday June 29, 2009 at Wausau Manor.
Ethel was born June 6, 1912 in Merrill to the late Emil and Ella (Utech) Pagenkopf. She was preceded in death by her first husband George Habeck and her second husband Ralph Princl.
Ethel worked as a bookkeeper, secretary and treasurer for Marathon Box before retiring and as bookkeeper for Suburban Drug Store. She volunteered at AARP as a tax consultant for 10 years and was a tax consultant for nature and environmental groups. She was treasurer and a charter member of the national Fishing Hall of Fame. Ethel was a member of the YWCA Blue Triangle. She was a charter member, served as treasurer and was on the Board of Directors of Zonta. Ethel also served as treasurer for the Lutheran Brotherhhod. Ethel loved to travel, especially to Hawaii.
Ethel is survived by one daughter; Elaine (Donald) Koppa of Wausau, three grandchildren; Loretta Songer of Sierra Vista, Az., Joanne (Patrick) Janke of Ramsey, Minn., and Kenneth Koppa of Wausau ,5 great grandchildren, one sister Dorothy Berna of Rhinelander and one sister-in-law Bernice Pagenkopf of Wausau. Ethel is further survived by one stepson; Edward (Shirley) Princil of Weston, two stepdaughters; Mary Karlen of Ponitowski and Barbara (Pat) Stehly of Weston, 13 step grandchildren and 22 step great grandchildren.
Besides her parents and two husbands, Ethel was preceded in death by two sisters; Myrtle Krueger and Lucille Geske and four brothers; William, Earl, George and Larry Pagenkopf.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday July 2, 2009 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Wausau. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
