Eugene “Gene” D. Schilling, age 69, of Wausau, died March 11, 2009, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Gene was born June 26, 1939, in Wausau, WI, the son of Arvin and Dora (Kittel) Schilling.
After high school, he served in the Army Reserve. He worked at Wausau Insurance for over 35 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and all sports, especially golf.
He is survived by his loving family, including: His wife of 46 years, Marilyn Schilling, of Wausau; 2 sons, Russell (Cindy) Schilling, of Marathon, and Jeffrey Schilling, of Wausau; a grandson, Cameron Schilling; mother, Dora Schilling, of Wausau; 2 brothers, Ronald (Sue) Schilling and Alan (Shirley) Schilling; and a sister, Linda (Rodney) Wendorf.
Visitation will be held at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, on Thursday, March 12, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wausau, on Friday, March 13, at 1:30 p.m. An hour of visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m., at the church, prior to the service. The Reverend Sean Motley will officiate. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
