Eva Kriel

September 30, 1911 — February 21, 2008

On September 30, 1911 in the small town of Mosinee, Eva Mae Rheinschmidt was born, the first girl in what was to become a large family. Eva was the second child of the late Louis and Bessie (Williams) Rheinschmidt.

At the ripe old age of 17 Eva headed to Wausau to look for a job. Eva ended up at the "Piston Ring" Wausau Motor Parts in Wausau, where she met her husband to be Leo Kriel. They married on June 24, 1933. They had no children the first 6 A½ years so they were able to spend a lot of time with friends. We heard lots of stories about the good times, we felt like we knew most of these people. Years later we did get to meet several of them.

Mom and Dad moved to Beloit, WI in 1940 for better job opportunities. Mom became a housewife and mother. While in Beloit where several of mom's brothers and sisters also lived, some holidays were spent at our home, cousins always liked to go by Aunt Evas, always lots of good food for everyone. Mom was a good person, everyone loves her.

After World War II they decided to move to Prineville, Oregon by a sister. They returned to Beloit for a number of years before they decided to move back to Wausau. Leo and Eva ran Kriels Stone Tavern and Kriels Beer Bar for 11 years in Rothschild. After they retired and their home burned they moved to Tomahawk for 12 years. Seventeen years ago they returned to the village of Weston.

Eva is survived by children, Jean (Orville) Gritzmacher of Wausau and Carol Lynn Kriel of Weston, also by sisters, Hazel Aude of Beloit, Bernice Stewman of Vista, CA, Dorothy Warren of Machesney Park, Ill., one brother, Richard Rheinschmidt of South Beloit, Ill.,

7 grandchildren, Tim Gritzmacher of Knowlton, Todd Gritzmacher, Brian (Linda) Richey, Keith Richey, J.J. (Kim) Manowski, all of Wausau, Brandon Orcutt of Janesville, and Brenda (Kokou) Figah of Aurora, CO., and 5 great grandchildren, Derek Schubring, Devon and Eyan Manowski, Serena and Luke Figah.

Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Leo on October 13, 2001, one son, Leon Kriel on February 9, 1973, brothers, Leslie, Norman, Eddie, and Louis, and sisters, Millie Wilson, Viola Hamilton, and Bessie Gregory.

A private family gathering was held.
