Evangeline Neva Hanke, 87, died Saturday, April 25, 2009 after a 7 year battle with Alzheimer’s at North Central Health Care, Wausau.
Evangeline Hickman was born to the late John and Clara (Beem) Hickman on October 31, 1921 in the Town of Rib Mountain. She married Walter F. Hanke on June, 6, 1942 in Wausau, WI. Walter preceded Evangeline in death on September, 5, 2008 after 66 years of marriage. She enjoyed knitting, making quilts, traveling, and dancing.
Evangeline’s survivors include 3 children, Walter G. (Delpha) Hanke of University Park, FL, Judith Schmidt of Greenfield, WI and Daniel Hanke of Irma, WI; 9 grandchildren, Daniel C. Hanke, Sandra (Frank) Molina, Tristan Schmidt, Ian (Michelle) Schmidt, Sabrina Schmidt, Sydney (Chad) Sizemore, Destiny, Dan G., and Serena Hanke; 5 great-grandchildren, Xander, Felicity, Alexis, Hana, and Alexander; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her 10 siblings, Myrtle Ott, Alva Hickman, Lloyd Hickman, Irene Knapp, John Hickman, Arlene Graveen, Eva Jones, Leroy Hickman, Eugene Hickman, and Georgianna Wurz
