Faith Yvonne Utecht Borchardt was born in Wausau on March 18, 1942, to Edward Utecht and Delores Ferge Utecht. She died peacefully on June 20, 2016, at Benedictine Manor supported by loving friends.
Faith was baptized and confirmed at St. Stephen Lutheran Church and also attended the St. Stephen parochial school until its closure. She attended Lincoln School, Wausau High School, and a year of study at Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa.
On March 5, 1967, Faith married Dion Borchardt, a veteran of the Vietnam War. They both became active in the local VFW post. Faith served in many areas of leadership in the VFW Women's Auxiliary at both the local and state level. Faith also belonged to the American Legion and served on several committees and as a lector at St. Stephen Lutheran Church willingly sharing her gifts and time.
Her working career was spent at General Telephone and Electronics (GTE) Company beginning as a switchboard operator and rising to a management support position. She retired from GTE in December of 1993, after almost 32 years of service.
Preceding her in death were her parents whom she lovingly helped in their aging and her beloved husband, Dion, and a brother, Roger Utecht of Freemont, WI. She is survived by two sisters, Jeanette Zemke Doerr of Seguin, TX and Beverly Utecht Borchardt of Tomahawk, WI, along with two nephews, Stephen (Nancy) Doerr, Seguin, TX , Pastor Nathan (Naomi) Doerr of Littleton, CO and two nieces, Christine (Gary) Richter, El Campo, TX and Jane Doerr, San Antonio, TX. Six great-nephews and two great-nieces survive and cherish her memory. Two cousins, Donald Janiak and Leslie A. Ferge, also survive, along with her many friends.
Faith will be deeply missed, but she leaves us with this message that was displayed for years in her mother's flower garden: "If God hath made the world so fair, where sin and death abound, how beautiful beyond compare, will paradise be found." Author: James Montgomery
