Florence (Hartig) St. Clair, age 92, died Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Florence was born in June 6, 1915 in Town of Texas, to the late Max and Martha (Johlke) Hartig. She married Ted St. Clair in Wausau August 24, 1935. Florence and Ted spent sixty-nine loving years together before his death in 2004.
Florence enjoyed many activities throughout her life. She was a long time member of the Wisconsin Valley Art Association winning many awards, including Best of Show for her oil paintings. Her beautiful flower gardens, especially her geraniums, were an attraction the neighborhood and others would look forward to each year. Florence treated her family and friends to her apple pies made with apples from her own trees. For years she worked at Maurice's not only as a salesclerk, but did all their alterations and for other stores. Her talents as a seamstress were shown in all the clothing she made for her family and others. All of her children's clothes were handmade and the quilts on their beds. Hostessing parties at her home always included a large group of her friends where they would enjoy her good cooking and dance. Florence and Ted wouldn't let a week go by without dancing or enjoying music as long as they were able. Above all, Florence was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who delighted in being surrounded by her family.
