Florence graduated from Wausau High School in 1940 and was employed for many years at Wausau Insurance Cos. as a policy writer, correspondence secretary and proofreader. She retired at age 62 in 1984.
Florence was active in her church throughout her life and served as church school teacher and superintendent, Women's Association secretary, Circle and Bible study chairman, elder and deacon. She also served on Christian education and worship committees, sang in the Chancel Choir and held numerous other positions.
Florence was active in the Order of the Eastern Star and served as marshal, secretary and treasurer of the local chapter. She also belonged to the White Shrine of Jerusalem and the Wisconsin Valley Auxiliary to the Shriners Hospital for Children (Twin Cities Unit) and served as president in 1989. She was also a member of the Wausau Woman's Club.
While her children were in school, Florence was active in PTA, Stunt Night, and served as president of the Mothers' Club at Lincoln Elementary School.
Florence enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, knitting and genealogy and had many other interests. In retirement, she enjoyed attending concerts at the Grand Theater, traveled to Europe twice and volunteered at the United Way.
