Franklin A. Hintz, 83, of Wausau passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at his home.
He was born April 4, 1928 in the town of Maine to the late Arthur and Leona (Pagel) Hintz. Franklin was a graduate of Wausau Senior High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1946-47. At the time of his retirement in 1990, Franklin was a quality control supervisor at Wilson-Hurd Manufacturing. At a high school class reunion, Franklin reconnected with classmate Dolores (Kolbeck) Dalbec, and after several dates asked her to be his wife. They were married in Reno, Nevada on September 19, 1988 and made their home in Wausau. Franklin and Delores enjoyed traveling to Nevada, Hawaii, Gettysburg and visiting relatives in Pennsylvania. Franklin's favorite hobby was working in his woodshop making beautiful decorative plaques, figurines, and ornaments. He loved listening to music, dancing, and watching old Western movies. Franklin was a member of American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10, International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, and First English Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores, step children, Richard Dalbec and Karen (Gary) Christenson, all of Wausau, three step grandchildren, Tracy (Trey) Eno, Todd (Jenn) Dalbec, Tori Dalbec, three step great grandchildren, TJ, Tanner, and Katherine, his sister, Virginia (Ted) Lehnhart of Chambersburg, PA and nieces, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Reverend Eric Olson will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. You may sign our family guest book at helke.com.
