Gary Barnett

Gary B. Barnett, 82, of Wausau passed away Monday, January 16, 2012 at Colonial Manor Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Wausau.
He was born in Kansas City, MO on November 12, 1929 to the late Walter and Grace Barnett. Gary served in the U.S. Navy, he then moved back to Wausau. He married Jeanette Gutowskii on August 28, 1961 in Pine City, MN. Together they would raise their two sons, Jerry, and Robert. Gary worked as a tool grinder at Marathon Electric until retirement.
Whether it was flying model airplanes Gary built, motorcycles, photography, or participating in historical reenactments, being active in hobbies was always important to Gary. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and just being outdoors. Gary was also a big fan of Country Western style music.
Survivors include his two sons; Jerry (Bev) Barnett, Ringle, WI; Robert Barnett, Tuscan AZ; and his granddaughter, Nicole Barnett.
Gary was further preceded in death by his wife Jeanette.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30am Monday, January 23, 2012 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. The family will receive guests Monday from 9:30a.m. until the time of services. Full Military Honors presented by the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10 will follow.
