Gary Lewandowski, 71, of Wausau, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024.
He was born on May 28, 1952, to the late John and JoAnn Lewandowski, in Wausau, Wisconsin.
Gary graduated from UW-Madison with a degree in Journalism. He loved basketball and coached elementary school basketball in Stratford, WI and eventually went on to be an assistant coach at UW-Superior for eleven years. After moving back to Wausau, he worked for West Business Services where he supported communications for American Express. Gary was a kind and thoughtful man, always looking to bring a smile to all he met. He was known for his positive attitude, expressive storytelling, and of course, bad jokes. Gary enjoyed hunting and fishing and watching the Bucks, Packers, and Brewers.
He is survived by his brother, Ken (Karen) Lewandowski; nieces, Renee (Ben) Crawford, and Shelley (Rob) Wegmueller; great niece and nephews, Hayden, Adalyn, Owen, and Lucas; he is further survived by many relatives, friends, and coworkers.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John and JoAnn Lewandowski.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, at Holy Name Catholic Church. A visitation will take place from 9:30 am until the time of services at the church, with a luncheon to follow services. A private family burial will take place later.
