Gary Susor

March 3, 1956 — August 19, 2014

Gary Burt Susor, 58, Wausau, died Tuesday, August 19, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Gary was born March 3, 1956 in Stevens Point to the late Burt and Dorothy (Leffel) Susor. He served in the US Navy from 1979-82, serving on the submarine tender, USS Hunley. After his service to his country, Gary worked as a millwright in various ship building facilities across the country and abroad.

Nothing in Gary's life made him prouder than the accomplishments of his wonderful children, Dylan and Tamson. Gary's favorite pastimes were listening to blue grass and blues music, dogs, reading, watching NASCAR and most of all going to drag races. Few things could bring a smile to his face faster than hearing the roar of the engines and squeal of the tires as the dragsters barreled down the track.

He was known to be a stubborn man with a quick wit. But as the final week of his life came and an illness quickly took his strength; Gary's only thought was for his family. His family was able to stay with him day and night throughout his final week, laughing a little and crying alot but always together as a family.

Gary is survived by his children; Tamson Susor and Dylan (Felicia Mabry) Susor; siblings, Pat (Tom) Nemke, Barb (Jeff) Krohn and Sandy (Tim) Weller; nephews, Josh, Matt, Scott (Sumaiyah), Chris (Janel) and Phil; and extended family and friends.

A private service will be held at a later date. Helke Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements; you may sign our family guestbook at www.helke.com.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family who will be making a charitable contribution in Gary's memory.
