Gary Syring Jr.

Gary W.C. Syring Jr., 54, of Wausau, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

He was born on June 29, 1963, in Wausau, to Gary Sr. and DeAnna (Mueller) Syring.  Gary grew up in Wausau and attended local schools.  He was employed as a semi mechanic and enjoyed working on big trucks, working for Wausau Homes, Wausau Steel, and also Wausau Tile over his career.  The warm weather lured Gary away from the Wausau area and for a time he lived in Arizona and Florida, eventually returning home to Wausau.  Gary enjoyed stock car racing and attended races at State Park Speedway.  He never missed a NASCAR race on TV.  Gary’s dog, Belle, was a comfort and companion over many years.

Survivors include his daughters, Jessica Syring and Ashley Soukup; step-son, Shane (Tara) Holcomb; mother, DeAnna Syring; sisters, Kim Kluetz, Debra Freese, and Vicki (Rich) Tessmer; friend, Tracey; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gary Sr.

A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Peace United Church of Christ, 1530 Grand Ave., Schofield, with Rev. Gloria Van Houten officiating.  Family and friends may call on Sunday, March 18 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, beginning at 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Monday beginning at 12 noon until the time of service at the church.  Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park, town of Texas.
