Gary Syring Sr. was a man with many interests. You could find him watching NASCAR racing on TV, attending the yearly demo derbies at the fair, building birdhouses in the backyard, or flying around the country with his brother, LaVern. After retirement, he enjoyed relaxing at home with a good book, watching old movies with his dog Lacey, shining up his pick up truck, and whipping up his homemade mashed potatoes. Whether fishing on Lake Wausau, deer hunting, camping with the family, or taking care of his yard, Gary loved being outdoors.
He was born August 12, 1937 in the town of Frankfort to the late Carl and Anna (Hon) Syring. Gary attended Wausau Senior High School and married his high school sweetheart, DeAnna Mueller on June 23, 1956 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. They raised four children while Gary worked at Marathon Electric. For over 42 years, he worked various jobs at ME, mainly as a die cast operator retiring in 2000.
