Gayle Gialdini-Grover was born August 25th 1954, in Green Bay, WI, the daughter of Thomas and Barbara (Brue) Gialdini. She graduated from Southwest High School, in Green Bay, in 1972, as the Salutatorian. She was chosen as an exchange student to Turkey the summer of her junior year in high school. Gayle attended Carroll College and graduated with high honors in 1975. Her first job was with IBM, as a System Engineer, in Green Bay and Stevens Point. After moving to Wausau she worked for Wausau Insurance, and then worked at Wausau Financial Systems until April of this year. Gayle was recognized for her hard work and commitment throughout her career and made many friends everywhere she worked. Gayle's life was enriched when she became a member of New Hope Community Church. She leaves many friends and memories there. Gayle enjoyed being active in church activities, helping in the nursery, and visiting with seniors who were also members. Gayle enjoyed the outdoors and could be found biking or hiking Rib Mountain in her spare time.
In May she moved to be with her son, Matthew, and his wife, Jessica, in Newport, KY. She was happy to share in the birth of her first grandchild, Susan Sarah, on August 3rd.
On Tuesday, August 27th 2013, Gayle died under the care of hospice, at her son's home, in Newport, KY, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Gayle will be missed by her loving family, including her two sons, Aaron, Chicago, IL, and Matthew (Jessica), Newport, KY; granddaughter, Susan; mom, Barbara Gialdini, DePere, WI; four siblings, Thomas "Greg" (Diane) Gialdini, Cavour, WI, Geoff (Amy) Gialdini, Green Bay, Gwen (Darren) Munson, Snohomish, WA, and Grant Gialdini, Green Bay; brother- and sister-in-law, Brian (Jean) Grover, Bayview, WI, mother-in-law, Sarah Grover, St. Francis, WI; and numerous friends and other family.
She was preceded in death by her dad, Thomas Gialdini; and infant son, Benjamin.
A memorial service celebrating Gayle's life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 7th, at New Hope Community Church, Wausau. Family will receive guests on Saturday, at church, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. You may sign our family guestbook at www.helke.com.
