George King

George E. King, 85, of Rothschild, passed away at Gardenside Crossing-Mt. View Care Center on December 6, 2010. He was born to the late Fred and Emma (Knuth) King on February 7, 1925 in Wausau. George married the former Dorene Yonker on July 10, 1948 in Wausau at St. Paula�(TM)s United Church of Christ. He served his country during World War II in the Army and was stationed in North Africa and Italy.
George truly enjoyed being outside. He was an avid outdoorsman, gardener, and enjoyed checking for tracks in the woods. He hunted fox, coyote, deer, and also liked trapping muskrat. George would feed and watch the birds, and built many bird houses. He was a member of St. Paula�(TM)s United Church of Christ.
George is survived by his wife, Dorene; son, John (Annette) King; a brother, Herbert; a sister, Mildred Dehnel; grandchildren, Derek King and Melissa (Gary) Kluck; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Brayden Kluck; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert, Fred, Raymond, and Charles; sisters, Helen Schalow and Lucille Neubauer; and great-grandson, Bryson Kluck.
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2010 at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, with Rev. Phillip Schneider officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery. You may sign our family guestbook at helke.com
