George Macomber, 61, of the town of Texas, died suddenly while he was hunting on his land in Tomahawk on Wednesday October 7, 2009.
George was born January 16, 1948 in Wausau, to the late Harold and Lillian (Vaughn) Macomber. He married Joan Krause on October 21, 1967 in Wausau. George enjoyed spending as much time as he could up North at his cabin in Tomahawk hunting and fishing with his family. He was a life member of the NRA, a life member of Rocky Mountain Elk, and a diamond member of The Wild Turkey Federation.
Survivors include his wife Joan of the town of Texas, two sons; Richard (Brenda) Macomber of the town of Hewitt, and Jason (Kara) Macomber of Rothschild, six grandchildren; Josh (Janel) Meverden, Travis (Shari) Meverden, Cassie, Jordyn, Adam, and Madison Macomber, two great grandchildren; Kelsey and Mara Meverden, three brothers; Peter Macomber of Wausau, Joseph (Donna) Macomber of Mich., and Donald (Audrey) Macomber of Hartford, two sisters; Marge (Ron) Tessmer and Mary Ann (Dick) Panasuk both of Milwaukee, special family friends, Tawny Nance and family, and his best friend Sam the Golden Retriever.
Besides his parents, George was preceded in death by one sister Emma Macomber.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday October 12, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church, town of Easton. The Reverend David Faulkner will officiate. Burial will be Restlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Sunday October 11, 2009 at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, and Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
