Gerald Peters

September 5, 1939 — January 2, 2017

Gerald "Jerry" B. Peters, 77, of Wausau, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017, at Wausau Manor, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
Jerry was born September 5, 1939, in Chicago, IL, son of the late Claude and Cecelia (Sulzer) Peters. He made his home in Chicago for many years prior to moving to the Wausau area in the late 1970's. After moving from Chicago, Jerry settled in Rib Mountain and worked at Greenheck Fan for 22 years, where he retired in 2000.
Jerry enjoyed watching the Packers, gardening and growing his pickles, small game and deer hunting, fishing-especially stream trout fishing, softball and baseball, bowling, doing crossword puzzles and reading western novels.
Jerry's family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending as much time as possible with them. Time at their family cottage on Bridge Lake was always looked forward to and after his retirement Jerry would spend several weeks at a time at "The Cottage" in the summer. Jerry was not a fan of winter, but he would occasionally do some ice fishing with his family at the cottage and if was too cold for him to venture out always enjoyed seeing and commenting on the catch of the day, or lack of one.
He is survived by his sister Beverly (John) Joseph of Wausau, a niece Amie (William) Peissig of Kronnenwetter, and two great nieces, Sophia and Sadie.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m., Monday, January 9, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Ave, Wausau, with Reverend Gary Schultz officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
