Gerald "Jerry" Wilde was born July 3, 1936, the son of the late Erwin and Viola (Ringle) Wilde, in Wausau. On September 14, 1957, he was united in marriage to his "lovely bride," the late Nancy L. Jojade, at Grace Evangelical and Reformed Church, now Grace United Church of Christ.
Jerry served in the Wisconsin National Guard and was honorably discharged in November 1957. For more than 50 years, he was a Star Route Mail Contractor hauling mail between Wausau, Antigo and Pelican Lake. Jerry was incredibly dedicated to his family and his job, starting work at 3:30 a.m. and return home at 7:00 p.m., and then spending his evenings with his family. He enjoyed time with Nancy and his children, watching NASCAR, and chatting with friends. His kindness and humor touched many. Jerry served as a deacon at Grace United Church of Christ for a number of years and was a current member of American Legion Montgomery Plant Post #10. He retired to care for his ailing wife, who preceded him in death in 2013.
On Monday, April 4th, Jerry passed away quietly at home at the age of 79.
Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his children, Richard G. Wilde of Weston, Kay E. Wilde of Chicago, Illinois, his sister Eunice (Elgart) Baumann of Wausau and countless family and friends.
