Gertrude Schlund

Gertrude A. Schlund, 98, of Wausau, passed away on Friday afternoon, March 25, 2011 at Colonial Manor, Wausau. She was born to the late Christian and Ida (Krueger) Schlund on July 31, 1912 in the Town of Wausau. Gertrude was a longtime employee for the Marathon County Clerk's office as a bookkeeper. Her church and the Word of God were very important to her and provided insight in how she lived her life. Gertrude was a member at Zion Lutheran Church in Wausau and was also active in the Ladies Aid. Gertrude never missed mailing out a card to help celebrate holidays or birthdays. She enjoyed gardening and reading.
She is survived by 13 nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers and sisters, Freida Schlei, Ella Schmolze, Alma Schlund, Henry Schlund, and Walter Schlund.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church, 709 6th St., Wausau, with the Rev. Ted Gulhaugen officiating. There will be no visitation at church preceding the service. Family and friends may call at Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, on Monday, March 28, 2011 from 5 until 7 pm. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau.
