Gilbert Jacobi

August 21, 1916 — August 1, 2010

Gilbert Jacobi was a humble, hardworking man who loved his family and his church. For years, Gilbert and his wife, Frances operated their town of Maine dairy and beef cattle farm. While farming, he also worked 22 years as a superintendent at Marathon Millwork Co., and then 10 years as a foreman at Wausau Homes before retiring. He and Frances were charter members of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and were very active in various church ministries in their younger years. Gilbert was active in Wisconsin Farmer's Union and became the first Torchbearer in 1937. He was also past president of the Monarch Lion’s Club.

Gilbert was born August 21, 1916 in the town of Holton to the late Herbert and Amanda (Junker) Jacobi. He married Frances Wirth on September 23, 1944 in Wausau. They helped work and then purchased the Wirth family farm. Gilbert enjoyed bowling and loved spending time in his woodshop, always making or fixing something.
