Gladys Christian

Gladys Ann Christian, 88, of West Bend, WI, formerly of Wausau, WI, died May 1, 2009, at Cedar Community Health Center, West Bend.


Mrs. Christian was born February 2, 1921, in Wausau, WI, the daughter of the late Arthur and Anna (Hintz) Sellin. She grew up on a farm near Wausau and attended area schools.


On June 8, 1946, she was united in marriage to Harvey L. Christian, in the Town of Hamburg, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Her hobbies included playing cards, dancing, and music. She was a former choir member at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau.


She is survived by her loving family, including: Her daughter, Beverly (Douglas) Sturgeon of West Bend, WI; and grandson, Christian (Sarah) Sturgeon of Hartford, WI.


She was predeceased in death by her husband, Harvey, on December 9, 1992; and her siblings, Ilma Plisch, Mildred Fehlhaber, and Elroy Sellin.


A funeral service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau, on Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. The Reverend Gary Schultz will officiate. One hour of visitation will be held before the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Town of Berlin Cemetery.  Memorials in Gladys's name may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Ave., Wausau, 54401.
